Meg Washington releases new psych-country single "Eastcoaster" Confirms two major film projects
Leading Australian artist Meg Washington releases new music, the single "Eastcoaster", which was produced and mixed by Alex Henriksson (Matt Corby) under her own label Batflower Records, in partnership with French distributor 'Believe'. This is the first new music from Meg since her ARIA award winning fourth album, "Batflowers' in 2020, which was nominated for the Australian Music Prize.
"Writing this song was the first glimmer of something new for me" says Meg, "a feeling of leaning into country, finding more space, being more sonically experimental. It was the first time Alex and I had worked together, and I just had this deep sense of being in exactly the right place. That's what the song's about. Being in exactly the right place".
Meg has written the original songs for Rebel Wilson's movie musical 'The Deb' - a musical feature produced and directed by Wilson. Wilson has announced that the film's soundtrack will be distributed via a new label in partnership with Warner Music.
With her partner Nick Waterman, Meg has co-written the feature film screenplay adaption of Paul Kelly's classic "How to Make Gravy'". They are co-producing the film with Warner Bros Australia. With casting almost confirmed, they look forward to sharing further announcements.
Meg is currently completing her 5th studio album.
