Ruby Fields

Picture
Hailing from the suburbs of Sydney’s South Coast, singer, songwriter and modern-day storyteller, Ruby Fields, writes catchy indie-rock riffs and lyrics that are so self-aware and relatable that they cut deep.
It’s easy to see why people started paying attention back in 2017 when Ruby Fields uploaded her debut single ‘I Want’ to triple j Unearthed and it was played on triple j the very same day. Not long after, Fields break-out song ‘Dinosaurs’ placed at #9 in triple j Hottest 100 (2018), as she was feverishly embraced by fans and industry alike. As a testament to her popularity, she quickly followed that up with further Hottest 100 placements for ‘Pretty Grim’ #61 (2020) and ‘Kitchen’ #58 (2021), as well as performing iconic triple j Like A Version covers of The Church’s ‘The Unguarded Moment’ (2019) and The Cure’s ‘Lovesong’ (2025).

Known for her witty, authentic banter and electric live sets, Fields has toured the country twenty times over, playing sold-out headline shows and performing alongside contemporaries Hockey Dad, Ocean Alley, Ball Park Music and San Cisco. Internationally, Fields has also performed in London and at The Great Escape in Brighton, UK. Fields has delivered some of her most memorable performances at festivals, famously playing a rock n roll cover of Britney Spears' ‘Toxic’ in front of 20,000 people at Splendour In The Grass, as well as playing to a packed crowd at Laneway Festival in 2019 which was recorded for triple j’s Live At The Wireless. More recently, Fields has taken the stage at Party In The Paddock in Tassie and triple j’s One Night Stand in Busselton, where the crowd sang-along to fan-favourites ‘Half The Laugh’, ‘Dinosaurs’ and more.

Ruby Fields has received many accolades over the years, which is no small achievement. Most notably, Fields scored a #1 ARIA for her debut album Been Doin' It For A Bit (2021), beating the likes of Drake and Lil Nas X. The album also received a J Award nomination for ‘Australian Album of the Year’, as well as Rolling Stone’s ‘Best Record’, which included a coveted live performance at the Rolling Stone Awards. Proving an enduring love for the song, Fields’ hit ‘Dinosaurs’ was also Certified Platinum in Australia and she was nominated for ‘Best Rock Work’ at the APRA Music Awards. Now, Fields is gearing up to release her second album, Small Achievements, scheduled for release on Fri 24 April, ahead of performing the album and her much-loved hits across Australia throughout April and May. When she’s not on the road, you’ll find her building and repairing guitars in a shed on the South Coast, totally ensconced in the beauty of the details.
