Sydney based Australian country artist Michael Carpenter continues on his prolific way with the 4th single release from his current side-project “Michael Carpenter & the CRC”. The single “I Can’t Get Over You” is out now!
As with the previous three highly successful singles released by Carpenter’s new “country rock collective”, this track features a completely different lineup of some of the country’s best musicians. Paul Bain: drums Matt Fell: bass Damian Cafarella: electric guitars Jy-Perry Banks: pedal steel Michael Carpenter: lead vocals, acoustic guitars, hammond organ Kylie Whitney and Nichole Orth: backing vocals The track is, as Carpenter says, is “an old fashioned love song. Sometimes we get so lucky in the people we share our journey with. There are days when I marvel at my partner, and feel a sense of disbelief. That was the inspiration for this song.” Written in early 2023, the track was one of the first songs written for the evolving CRC project. It showcases the classic pop sensibilities Carpenter brings to all of his projects. It has his trademark organic sonics and usual high production values, featuring empathetic rhythm section work by Paul Bain and Matt Fell anchoring the driving rhythm, with Damian Cafarella and Jy-Perry Banks colouring the body of the song, ably assisted by Carpenter’s own Hammond organ. The song is rounded up by the beautiful backing vocals of Carpenter’s April Family bandmate Kylie Whitney, and the song’s subject, his partner Nichole Orth, making her recording debut! Carpenter continues to revel in the creativity at his disposal at the moment. 2023 saw the release of 2 albums and 7 singles between the CRC and his project with The Banks Brothers. It also saw him nominated for 2 Golden Guitars at the 2024 awards. And this year will see him continue with releases by both projects, as well as new material for The April Family.
