Le Shiv Break Free With New Single "Bread & Buttered Leather" Ahead of National Tour with Lime Cordiale
With 18 shows on the horizon throughout April and May, Le Shiv return with a blistering new single, "Bread & Buttered Leather" — a final taste of the (un)adored era before the band launches into their highly anticipated debut album.
Produced and mixed by ARIA-nominated Malcolm Besley (North East Party House) and mastered by Grammy-winner Brian Lucey (Lizzo, The Black Keys), the track surges with raw, classic Le Shiv energy: huge guitars, a driving rhythm section, and a chorus built for shouting into the night. It follows the release of their ‘(un)adored’ EP and breakout single ‘I Wish I Never Loved You’, which landed on 24 Spotify editorial playlists globally and sparked a 321% spike in streams over the past 12 months. Fresh from a standout performance at Yours & Owls Festival and supporting Royel Otis, Le Shiv are stepping into a new chapter with growing momentum and eyes firmly on the horizon. "Bread & Buttered Leather" started as a song written in a low moment,” says frontman Pencil. “Coming back to it later with a fresh perspective felt strange—almost like stepping into a past version of myself. Honestly, I don’t love singing about feeling broken or toxic relationships, but I do love the phrase ‘bread and buttered leather.’ I’m not even sure what it means, but it just feels good, like things are finally clicking into place again. And it’s good to feel like that.” As if they’re not about to spend enough time with Lime Cordiale on the road, the band has also been bunkered down at Lime’s ranch getaway for their first proper writing retreat in years. “I’ve been listening to a lot of Daft Punk lately and been feeling super inspired by that,” continues Pencil. “So not sure what’s going to come out of this writing trip… but ‘Bread & Buttered Leather’ is a bridge between where we’ve been and where we’re headed.” With a new publishing deal via Origin Music, a debut album in the works, and rapid international streaming growth propelling their momentum, Le Shiv are one of Australia’s most promising up comers.
