Michael James Lee is a Los Angeles based film composer that has been producing music and scoring for TV and film since 2008. Living in Los Angeles meant having a handful of filmmaker friends, which naturally gave him the opportunity to prove himself in the film scoring world, and, after scoring his first feature documentary, Little Hope Was Arson, he went into scoring for picture full time. He soon attended UCLA’s film scoring program where he studied the craft of writing for live orchestra.
Since then, he has scored feature films for Netflix, HBO MAX, PBS, Gravitas Ventures, and Amazon. In 2022, he was nominated for a Hollywood Music in Media Award for his score in “Eat The Rich : The Gamestop Saga,” sharing a nominee category with Hans Zimmer. Scoring, mixing, and designing sound for advertisements (Lego, Fortnite, Netflix, Dropbox, Mozilla, Etsy, Cashapp, etc) keeps him busy in between films. He currently resides in Silver Lake, Los Angeles and works from his Pasadena studio.
Notable works include: Bitconned, Eat The Rich: The Gamestop Saga, The Pez Outlaw, Alabama Snake and The Legend of Cocaine Island.
