Eric McCusker is a songwriter/guitarist who has been involved in the Australian music industry for over 50 years, most notably with Mondo Rock. He wrote six Australian Top 40 hits with that band, including “Come Said the Boy”, “State of the Heart”, “Chemistry” and “No Time”. He has also had songs covered by artists such as Paul Rodgers, John Farnham and Tex Perkins. Rick Springfield performed "State of the Heart" on the US concert for Live Aid and his recording charted high on the Billboard Hot 100. Eric has co-written with John Waite, Keith Urban, Gary Wright, Jake Mason and Kate Ceberano among many others.
Awards include Australian Songwriter of the Year 1981, Album of the Year 1981 (“Chemistry”), APRA Award 83/’84 (“Come Said the Boy”) and Platinum and Gold singles and albums. Eric’s song “No-One Comes Close” was featured on John Farnham’s “Whispering Jack”, the biggest selling album in Australian history. “Come Said the Boy” was recently voted in the Top 30 all-time greatest Australian songs.
In parallel with his songwriting Eric has been a full-time professional guitarist since 1975, playing with Renee Geyer, Ross Ryan, Jon English, Stevie Wright, Jeff St John, Captain Matchbox and Ross Wilson.
Eric was on the Board of Directors of APRA for 24 years. He has taught Music Business at NMIT, and songwriting at Monash University.
Eric still is active as a writer and a performer. He has been working on a musical "Ava (at the End of the World)". He has recently released 3 songs with Angus Gill and has just finished a new CD with Gerry's Well Oiled Machine.

He lives in Melbourne’s Princes Hill with wife Jenee and they have two adult kids, Mike and Molly.
