Emily McGill is a French-American musician based in Naarm (Melbourne). Her current primary musical endeavour is a psych rock/dream pop project called Milou Moon which will release its sophomore EP via ORiGiN recordings mid 2025.
Originally from Chicago, Emily grew up on the classic rock and psychedelia of the 60s and 70s blended with her time spent singing in her award-winning school choir. She has been writing songs and crafting textural soundscapes from a young age, but generally without the intention to release publicly, focusing on music as an intimate practice of creative expression and play. Throughout these years, she completed a bachelor's of creative writing, travelled the world, moved to Australia, and then got a master's of environment. She now works as a university tutor focusing on sustainable food systems as a complement to her time writing and recording music and touring with Milou Moon.
Emily is the sole songwriter on the first two Milou Moon EPs but has been getting involved in more co-writing through connections she's made at ORiGiN. She's currently working on an upcoming Milou Moon album that involves co-writes with Leigh Fisher (DOPE LEMON, Angus & Julia Stone) and Simon Mavin (Hiatus Kaiyote).
