Domini Forster leads you through the dusk-lit corridors of her intricate song-stories, each scene as intimate and lovelorn as tea-stained lace.
A recipient of the Darebin Songwriters Award and a former Triple J Unearthed High finalist, Domini is one of Naarm/Melbourne’s brightest songwriters and recording artists. With a distinctive voice that shifts from commanding call to whisper-close falsetto, Domini weaves songs that capture universal human experiences through personal storytelling.
Her most recent record Animal In Hiding – an EP made in collaboration with renowned Australian artist Lior - was released in late 2021 to critical acclaim. The EP received 4.5 star reviews in The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald as well as extensive national coverage on ABC radio and a feature on Channel 9’s Today Extra.
‘What is truly remarkable about this collaboration is the extraordinary effects of their vocal pairing: if you find yourself thinking no two voices have melded quite as seamlessly since Simon & Garfunkel, you wouldn’t be far off the mark.’ - The Age
Lior & Domini are touring the EP throughout 2022-23, with shows across the country including appearances at Port Fairy Folk Festival, The National Folk Festival and Tasmania’s Museum of Old and New Art.
Domini began her career as a finalist in Triple J’s Unearthed High and went on to release Little Dreamer – an EP produced by Tony Buchen (Montaigne, Thelma Plum). After selling out multiple pressings, her debut album Raven followed in 2017, receiving a 9/10 from Beat Magazine and features in the PBS Top 10, RRR Soundscape and Triple J’s Best Film Clips segment. The national album tour culminated in a packed out show at the Toff in Town in Melbourne.
‘Raven is one of the most impressive local releases in the last twelve months...a compelling and intricate album with a dark narrative arc’ - The Northsider
Domini is a folk festival favourite, appearing at such events as The Sydney Road Street Party (VIC), Nannup Music Festival (WA) and Mullum Music Festival (NSW). She has also toured extensively across Australia supporting Lior, playing over 100 shows in venues including the Enmore Theatre and Melbourne’s Athenaeum, and joining his band at The Sydney Opera House, Woodford Folk Festival and many more.
Domini is currently recording her second album.
